About Importing Drawing and Model Files
You can click File > Open or on the Quick Access Toolbar to import files and create drawings and models. Click Model > Get Data > Import to import part models and insert them in existing parts. You can click Component > Assemble > Assemble in the assembly environment to assemble imported parts and assemblies as components of assemblies.
Format-specific import profile editors enable you to create import profiles for each of the supported 3D file formats. You can use the format-specific import profiles for the 3D import, insert, and component assembly tasks. Additional options are also available on the Import New Model and the File dialog boxes for the following tasks:
Specify the import data type of the models.
Use custom start part and assembly template files.
Open the ATB-enabled Translated Image Model (TIM) assemblies as one of the following representations:
Master or full representation of the geometric and non-geometric data
Graphic representation for visualization
Product structure and meta data
Selectively import layers and reset layer filters.
Generate short or long log files with details of the import and append tasks.
If required, the imported model names are modified so that the names conform to Creo naming conventions of length and valid characters. This avoids name conflicts with the models in session.
