About Importing and Exporting JT Visualization Format
Creo Interface for JT allows you to import and export parts and assemblies to the JT (*.jt) visualization format. You require the INTF_for_JT license to export parts and assemblies to the JT format. You can create and use import and export profiles for the data exchange between the JT interface and Creo. By default, you can import and export JT files as facet representations. You can use the Export brep as JT export profile option to export exact representations. While importing JT files to Creo, do not set Facet as the Import type on the import profile if you want to import exact geometry.
Options in the JT export profile control the export of each of the following entities:
• Facet geometry.
• Non-solid quilts and single surfaces that are tessellated when exported to create a facet representation.
• Curves converted to tessellated curves to support facet representation and the visualization of data.
• Datum features, cable geometry, cross-sections, and exploded states.
• Annotations, especially as display data, and parameters with the option to export only designated parameters.
When the JT files that you import to Creo have the SUBNODE property set to 1 as its value, Creo determines whether to import the JT models as parts or assemblies. The model type is set to Part or Assembly by default in the Import New Model dialog box. You can explicitly change the model type from part to assembly. You cannot, however, change the model type from assembly to part.
If the SUBNODE property is set to the value 1:
• The Product Manufacturing Information (PMI), color, and the model views of the sub-nodes are preserved at their respective levels during the import.
• Solid bodies, wire bodies, and sheet bodies that are sub-nodes with attribute value set to 1 collapse into parts.
• The meta data of the sub-nodes such as attributes, color, annotations, and model views, reference the collapsed parts.
Import and export log files are automatically generated in the working directory for the import and export tasks.
