About the Separate Surface Region Feature
Use the Separate Surface Region feature to separate surface regions from the original surface to a new surface, so you can work on them separately. This feature works on a surface that consists of multiple disjoint surface regions.
In the example, the top surface consists of three surface regions.
To create a Separate Surface Region feature, you select contours that belong to a single surface. The contours are the boundaries of surface regions. The selected contours are separated from the original surface.
After the separation, there are at least two surfaces. If multiple regions were separated, you have the option to create one new surface that contains all the surface regions that were separated, or a separate surface for each separated surface region.
In the example, after creating a Separate Surface Region feature, each surface region now belongs to a separate surface.
