Working with Inseparable Assemblies
Saving a Copy of an Inseparable Assembly
When you save a copy of an assembly with embedded components, all embedded components are copied as new embedded models in the new assembly. You cannot embed or extract a component when you save a copy of an assembly. You can set components that are not embedded to be reused or copied.
The Assembly Save A Copy dialog box opens and you can generate new names for regular components in the assembly. Embedded components cannot be renamed. The system automatically resolves naming conflicts when new copies are created.
Inseparable assemblies and assemblies with at least one direct embedded component, cannot be saved as a configurable product or as a configurable module. An assembly with lower level embedded components, can be saved as a configurable module.
Renaming Inseparable Assemblies
When you rename an assembly with embedded components, you cannot give new names to the embedded components.
