To Simulate Material Removal
1. Select one or more operations or NC sequences in the Model Tree and click > > . Alternatively, right-click one or more operations or NC sequences in the Model Tree and select Material Removal Simulation. The Material Removal tab opens.
2. Set one or all of the following optional values on the Material Removal tab when you play the simulation—
◦ Click
to refine the visible area of a stock. When the
Auto refinement option is not selected, you can use this command to refine finite visible area. Refinement is completed when the status bar displays—
Refining workpiece model: 100 %. Click
to stop the refinement process.
◦ In the Precision box, select Very High, High, Medium, or Low resolution. Higher resolution increases the processing time.
◦ In the Stock Display box, select one of the following values—
▪ Regular—Displays the removed material and stocks in a unique color.
▪ Sequence—Displays the removed material and the respective sequence in a unique color.
▪ Tool—Displays the removed material and the respective tool in a unique color.
◦ In the
Toolpath box, click one or all of the following check boxes—
▪ Trace—Displays the tool path that is to be followed by the tool.
▪ Follow— Displays the tool path that the tool has followed.
▪ Tool Axis—Displays the axis of tool motion.
▪ Points—Displays the points on the tool path.
▪ All Sequences—Displays tool paths for all sequences.
◦ In the
Tool box, click one or both of the following check boxes—
▪ Holder—Displays the holder during simulation.
▪ Shaft—Displays the shaft during simulation. A shaft is a non-cutting part situated below the holder and above the flute.
◦ In the Stock Elements box, click one of the following check boxes—
▪ Keep Element—Retains the selected element of the stock and remove all other elements.
▪ Delete Element—Removes the selected element of the stock.
◦ In the
Measure box, select one of the following—
▪ Point—Displays information about a point on a stock or a fixture surface.
▪ Distance—Measures a distance on a stock or a fixture surface. You can select two surfaces of stocks or fixtures to measure the distance.
▪ Volume—Measures the volume of a stock. You can measure a volume of a stock before or after the simulation.
▪ Clear—Clears the measurement labels.
3. Click
. The
Play Simulation dialog box opens.
4. Click
to play the simulation.
5. Click
to reset the simulation and repeat step 4 and step 5 to simulate with the modified optional values.
6. Click Close to close the Play Simulation dialog box.
7. In the Stock box, select one of the following options—
◦ Save In-Process Stock—Saves the in-process stock as a bin file.
◦ Open In-Process Stock—Allows you to open an in-process stock.
◦ Save STL—Saves the simulated stock in .stl format.
◦ Transfer To Manufacturing—Creates a faceted model feature in the model tree.
8. Click
to close the
Material Removal tab.
