Displacement Constraint—Generative Design
A displacement constraint creates an enforced translation displacement in a specified direction for a selected surface. Applying a displacement constraint on a surface is similar to applying a load to a surface.
To Define a Displacement Constraint
1. Click Constraints > Displacement. The Displacement Constraint dialog box opens.
2. Specify a Name for the constraint or accept the default name. Optionally, click the color swatch adjacent to the Name box to change the color of the icon, the distribution, and the text displayed for the constraint.
3. Select one or more surfaces of the model to constrain. Your selection appears in the References collector.
4. Enter values for Translations in the X- Y- or Z- direction. You can enter a value, mathematical expression, or parameter name in this field. The value should use length units for translation. You can also constrain the reference using the Fixed option for each direction.
5. Select the units of displacement from the list or accept the default units.
6. Click OK to create the constraint and save it.
