Setting Up Configuration Options
Set the Cabling environment options by specifying configuration options and their values in the PTC Creo Parametric Options dialog box (File > Options > Configuration Editor).

PTC recommends that you set the Cabling configuration options before you create or open a new cabling assembly.
Under Options, in the Electromechanical category, a list of configuration options is available for Cabling, Diagram, and Harness. Each option contains the following information:
Configuration option name
Default and available variables or values. The default value is followed by an asterisk (*).
Brief description and notes describing the configuration option.

After you set the configuration options, all the settings take effect immediately in the current Creo Parametric session.
Configuration Options
The following table lists all the configuration options available for Cabling, Diagram, and Harness and their description. The description also includes the values that you can set for each of the configuration option. The default value is marked with an asterisk.
Configuration Option
Description
align_cable_bundles
Aligns or unaligns newly created bundles at a point where they meet or branch out.
By default, the bundles are aligned. If not, ensure that this option is set to yes before creating a network.

Only the new bundles that are created after setting this configuration option will be aligned.
Values: yes*, no

allow_bundle_flat_cables
Enables you to bundle the flat packing wires or cables into a cylindrical-shaped bundle.
Values: yes, no*
allow_freeze_failed_assy_comp
Determines how Creo Parametric handles assembly components that fail retrieval.
Values:
yes—Enable the freeze component options. Assembly components that cannot be retrieved are automatically frozen at their last known locations in the assembly. You may have to perform specific actions to fix the assembly.
no*—Disable the freeze component options. Assembly components that cannot be retrieved are frozen only by regeneration.
PTC recommends that you set the value for this option to yes.

allow_logical_spool_editing
Determines if you can rename a spool or edit spool parameters for logical data spools. By default, this configuration option is set to no.
Values:
yes—Options to rename and edit spool parameters for logical data spools are available.
no*
—Options to rename and edit spool parameters for logical data spools are disabled.
auto_xml_on_retrieve
Automatically loads Cabling Logical Reference from a XML file when retrieving the cabling assembly.
Values: no*, yes
auto_xml_on_save
Automatically creates an XML Logical Reference when saving a cabling assembly.
Values: no*, yes
autoroute_path_param_name
Sets the wire parameter to be used while selecting a path during automatic routing.
Value: USE_PATH

bundle_transition_create_method
Controls whether bundle transitions are created automatically or manually.
Values: automatic*, manual
cable_bundle_transition_length
Sets the length of the transition chamfer as a percentage of the larger diameter of the cable. A chamfer is not created when there is an insufficient distance between the two cable locations.
Value: 50*, an integer from 1 to 250
cable_int_portions_for_clr
Values:
no*—Global clearance check for splice internal cable portions is excluded.
yes—Global clearance check for splice internal cable portions is included.
cable_jacket_termination
Values:
Ports—Cable jackets are routed between the entry ports.
Network Ends*—Cable jackets are terminated at the network ends.
cable_location_override_color
Overrides the system color set for cable locations.
Enter RGB values from 0 to 255 separated by a space. By default, when this option is not set, the system color is used.

cable_segment_override_color
Overrides the system color set for cable segments.
Enter RGB values from 0 to 255 separated by a space. By default, when this option is not set, the system color is used.

cables_with_hlr
Values:
no—Cables and locations show through objects in shaded mode display.
yes*—Cables and locations are hidden by other objects in shaded mode display.

compare_spools_by_name
Compares spool data by name during a logical compare.
Values: yes*, no
default_cable_axis_location
Sets the default placement of the location on the selected axis. By default, the location is placed on the selected axis. If you select along, the system creates a location at each end of the axis.
Values:
along—The Along Axis check box on the shortcut menu is selected, by default.
on*—The Along Axis check box on the shortcut menu is cleared, by default.
display_duplicate_harness_msg
Displays or does not display a warning message when duplicate harnesses are found in an assembly.
Values: yes*, no
display_internal_cable_portion
Values: no*, yes
If set to yes, internal cable portions are displayed for wires that have been manually set to yes in the Setup Cable Paths dialog box for each individual splice and custom component.
You can override this option from Cable display settings section, underEntity Display in the PTC Creo Parametric Options dialog box.
display_route_cable_preview
Shows a preview of the path routed cables will follow. On large harnesses setting to no will improve system performance.
Values: yes*, no
display_thick_cables
Sets the default startup mode.
Values:
yes—Displays thick cables and wires.
no*—Displays centerlines of wires and cables only.
You can override this option in the Cabling mode in the following ways:

enable_cable_channel
Activates the following channel options:

By Cross Section
The channel options are available in the Route overflow menu. By default, the channel options are hidden.
Values: no*, yes
freeze_failed_cable_locations
Determines how Creo Parametric handles cable locations that fail retrieval.
Values:
yes—Freezes the cable location at its last known location.
no*—If the reference feature of the component is missing, Creo Parametric fails the location. You must perform specific actions to fix the failed location.
PTC recommends that you set the value for this option to yes.
If the component is missing, Creo Parametric freezes the location at its last known location.
full_hlr_for_cables
If set to partial or none, some lines that should be hidden behind cables are visible in the wireframe mode. Using the Model Display dialog box, under the Edge/Line tab, you can set the Cable HLR options for the current session.
Values:
full*—Removes hidden lines from view when cables hide other geometry. Use when the Display Style is Hidden Line in the Environment dialog box.
partial—Cables hide other non-interfering cables except when cables route together between same locations.
none—Displays hidden lines (faster) that should be hidden behind cables or wires.
* 
Effects of using this configuration option are visible only in the hidden-line display mode. Helps speed up the display of hidden lines, but at the loss of some quality.

harn_start_model_dir
Provides the complete path to the directory containing the harness start parts.
harn_tang_line_display
Display the tangent lines between the segments of a cable in the Thick Cable Display mode.
Values: yes*, no
ignore_bundles_in_find_cables
Include the bundles and overbraids when querying the model or logical data for unrouted items. The items that are found are listed in the items found section of the Find Cables dialog box.
Values: no*, yes
If set to yes, the bundles and overbraids are not included in the items found section.
limit_ref_des_label_reorder
Controls the reordering of manually positioned Reference Designator Labels.
Values: yes*, no
yes*—This option prevents the auto ordering of manually positioned labels.
no—This option enables auto ordering of manually positioned reference designation labels.
network_location_override_color
Overrides the system color set for network locations.
Enter RGB values from 0 to 255 separated by a space. By default, when this option is not set, the system color is used.

Overrides the system color set for network segments.
Enter RGB values from 0 to 255 separated by a space. By default, when this option is not set, the system color is used.

pro_cbltrm_dir
<home directory>
Sets the default directory from which terminators are retrieved by default. Use the full path name, for example: /home/users/terminators.
The default is the current working directory.
pro_spool_dir
<home directory>
Sets the default directory from which the spools are retrieved by default. Use the full path name, for example: /home/users/spools.
The current working directory is the default directory.

prompt_add_to_main_bundle
Controls display of a message when modifying a branch bundle while adding a wire or a cable.
Values: yes*, no
yes*—Displays a message box when adding a wire or a cable to the branch bundle. Click Yes in the message box to add the wire or cable to the main bundle along with the branch bundle.
no—Do not display the message box. The wire or cable is not added to the main bundle.
prompt_extract_from_branches
Controls display of a message when the wire or cable to be extracted is routed through a branch bundle.
Values: yes*, no
yes*— Displays a message box when the wire or cable to be extracted is routed through a branch bundle. Click Yes in the message box to automatically extract the wire or cable from both the branch and the main bundles.
no—Do not display the message box. The wire or cable is not extracted from the branch bundle.
ribbon_cable_flat_direction
Values:
y_axis—Flat ribbon cables are attached to the Y-axis of entry ports.
x_axis—Flat ribbon cables are attached to the X-axis of entry ports.

smaller_bundle_min_bend_rad
Specifies whether to consider the thickness of the bundle while setting up the minimum bend radius.
Values: yes, no*
template_harnesspart
Sets the default template to be used for the harness part model.
Values:
inlbs_harn_part.prt*—The unit of measure for the harness part model is inches.
mmns_harn_part.prt—The unit of measure for the harness part model is millimeters.

trace_thru_splice_connector
Report the from/to connectors of the cables passing through the splices.
Values: yes, no*
update_loom_bundle_data
When working with legacy harnesses, you may encounter the following issues:
incorrect bundle thickness
missing portion of the wire path
Setting this configuration option to yes will automatically fix issues related to wire paths and bundle thickness.
Values: yes, no*
update_pre_16_cable_layers
Updates the pre-release 16.0 harnesses.
Values: no*, yes
If set to yes, automatically updates the harnesses containing cables routed prior to Release 16.0 when retrieved to comply with new display standards.
cable_stripes_file
Sets the path for the striped appearance (.csv) file.
edit_cable_stripes_file
Values:
Yes— Allows user to define new appearances, and edit and save appearances locally on their machine.
No- User can use the appearances from the library. Only the super user or the one with administrative rights can define striped appearances.
The default value is Yes.
auto_assign_tiewrap_designation
Assigns the default tie wrap feature name automatically as a tie wrap designation label, to create a designated feature.
yes— Assigns the tie wrap feature automatically to the tie wrap feature tool.
no*— Does not automatically assign the tie wrap feature name to the tie wrap feature tool to create a designated feature.
The default value is no.
auto_assign_markers_designation
Assigns the default marker feature name automatically as a marker designation label, to create a designated feature.
yes— Assigns the marker feature automatically to the marker feature tool.
no*— Does not automatically assign the marker feature name to the marker feature tool to create a designated feature.
The default value is no.
