About Importing Views Containing Configuration Details from Creo Elements/Direct Associative Drawings
Configurations that are defined for assemblies in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling provide alternate views for assembly models such as the exploded views of assemblies. They include details of object positions and can be used to visualize assemblies with components moved to locations that are different from their normal positions.
When Creo Elements/Direct*.mi, *.bi, or *.bdl drawing files consist of views containing configuration details, the associative import of the drawing files with the Drawing associative with model option selected in the Import MI dialog box transfers the views with the configuration details as exploded views to Creo Parametric. The views containing the configuration details of assemblies are transferred associatively to the 3D models as explode states and the corresponding exploded state of the assemblies are transferred to Creo Parametric.
However, when Creo Elements/Direct views containing the configuration details exist along with other views in the following combinations, the views with the configuration details are transferred to Creo Parametric as 2D views that are not associative with the 3D models:
Creo Elements/Direct views containing configuration details along with sections
Creo Elements/Direct views containing configuration details with cutaways
Creo Elements/Direct views with configuration details converted to surface sections
Annotations and dimensions reference the geometry representing the actual dimensions in the explode state. Annotations are imported as associative annotations.
After the associative import of the drawing files with views containing configuration and explode view state details, the following Creo Elements/Direct drawing entities are not associative with their 3D models in Creo Parametric:
BOM balloons of the exploded views in Creo Elements/Direct are imported to Creo Parametric as individual non-associative symbols. Leader lines are also not attached with the geometry.
The ordinate, radius, and diameter dimensions that belong to the configuration views are imported as non-associative dimensions to Creo Parametric when a multi-sheet Creo Elements/Direct drawing file is imported.
Radius dimensions attached to b-splines in Creo Elements/Direct are imported as individual exploded entities in Creo Parametric.
