Modifying Spools
You can perform the following operations on spools:
To View and Edit Spool Parameters
To view and edit spool parameters, perform the following steps:
1. Right-click the spool from the Model Tree and click
Edit Spool Parameters
. The
Electrical Parameters dialog box opens.
2. The Electrical Parameters dialog displays the list of all spools along with their type, and other information. Add or modify parameters, and click OK.
| To edit spool parameters that are imported from logical data in the cabling design, set the configuration option allow_logical_spool_editing to yes. |
To Re-assign a Spool to a Cable or Wire
1. Click > . The Select menu appears.
2. Select one or multiple cable or wire for which you want to change the spool and click OK. The Electrical Parameters dialog box opens.
3. Select the value in the Spool column for the cable or wire and assign a different spool from the Value drop-down list.
4. Click OK.
To Rename Spools
To rename a spool, complete the following steps:
1. Right-click the spool from the Model Tree and click

. The
Electrical Parameters dialog box opens.
2. Click > . In the Rename dialog box type a new name for the spool, select whether to rename the spool on the disk and in session or rename the spool only in the session, and then click OK.
| • If the configuration option allow_logical_spool_editing is set to no, the Rename option in the shortcut menu is disabled. • Wires and cables in the cabling assembly reference the associated spool. Renaming a spool in Creo Schematics and updating the XML file will not rename the spool in the assembly but will update the parameters. Use > to overwrite the spool parameters in the assembly with those from Schematics. The spool name remains unchanged. Only parameter values are updated. If a spool in the assembly has the same parameter name and values as the spool in the logically referenced diagram, then both these spools are considered the same. |
To Replace Spools
The Replace Component feature allows you to replace an existing spool in an assembly with another spool. You can replace a spool with a New copy or an Unrelated component.
To replace a spool:
