To Warp Geometry
1. Click > to open the Warp tab.
2. Select bodies, including bodies that contain simplified or homogenized lattices, quilts, facets, or curves to warp.
3. Click
Warp to display the warp settings and to display the warp marquee.
4. Move the pointer over any corner of the marquee. Six arrows are displayed in the corner.
◦ Methods of dragging
▪ Drag any of the three arrows that point along the three edges to move the corner of the marquee along the edge toward the opposite corner.
▪ Hold down the SHIFT and ALT keys simultaneously and drag a corner along the edge toward the center. The opposite corner follows in a symmetric manner.
▪ Drag any of the three arrows that point along the three neighboring faces to move the corner of the marquee within the marquee face toward the opposite corner. The two neighboring corners follow symmetrically to maintain the original corner angles.
▪ Hold down the SHIFT and ALT keys simultaneously and drag a corner along the face toward the center. All four corners of the face move symmetrically toward the center.
▪ Hold the ALT key down and drag only the selected corner along the face, independent of the other corners of the face.
◦ For finer control, select the corner and click the Options tab and specify the following parameters:
▪ The From and To corners that are selected as references to warp the geometry.
▪ The Constraint for the warp operation. Set the warp parameters in the U and V directions as follows:
▪ Center—Sets the U direction. The center point is automatically set.
▪ Opposite—Sets the U direction. The opposite point is automatically set.
▪ Free—Sets both warp directions.
Optionally, click
to export the parameter value to edit outside of Warp.
5. Move the pointer over the weight handle, a square on an edge. Four arrows are displayed on the edge.
◦ Methods of dragging
▪ Drag either of the two arrows that point along the neighboring faces to move the selected edge toward the opposite edge within the face of the marquee.
▪ Hold down the SHIFT and ALT keys simultaneously and drag any of the two arrows that point along the neighboring faces to move the selected edge toward the center.
▪ Drag either of the two arrows that point along the edge to shift the center of gravity of the object and warp the geometry toward one face of the marquee.
◦ For finer control, click the Options tab.
▪ For edges, specify the following:
▪ The From and To edges that are selected as references to warp the geometry.
▪ The Constraint for the warp operation.
▪ The warp
Parameter for the extent of edge warp. Optionally, click
to export the parameter value to edit outside of Warp.
▪ For weight, specify the following:
▪ Select the required edge Handle.
▪ Type a Value from 0 to 1 for center of gravity. A value of 0 shifts the center of gravity to one corner of the edge and a value of 1 shifts the center of gravity to the other corner. A value of 0.5 shifts the center of gravity to the edge midpoint.
Optionally, click
to export the parameter value to edit outside of Warp.
6. Select another warp operation to complete the current warp operation or click
OK to complete the warp feature.
