Simulation Studies
To run a simulation study perform the following steps:
1. Define the minimum required simulation objects as follows:
For a static structural simulation study—Define the following minimum requirements :
Loads
Constraints
Material Assignment
For a transient structural simulation study—Define the following minimum requirements :
Material Assignment
Constraints
Loads—Define as a function of time.
For a modal simulation study—Define the following minimum requirements :
Constraints
Material Assignment
For a thermal simulation study—Define the following minimum requirements :
Boundary Conditions
Thermal Loads
Material Assignment
2. To run a combined study, if your active study is a structural study, click Ansys Simulation > Setup and select the Include Thermal check box.
Define thermal loads and boundary conditions. The design study is now a combined study and contains both structural and thermal simulation entities.
Similarly to run a combined study if your active study is a thermal study, click Ansys Simulation > Setup and select the Include Structural check box.
Define structural loads and boundary conditions. The design study is now a combined study and contains both structural and thermal simulation entities.
3. Define any other optional simulation objects such as connections, idealizations, surface regions.
4. Click Ansys Simulation > Run > Study Check to run a preprocessor check on the model. Correct issues if any.
5. Click Ansys Simulation > Run to run the study.
6. Monitor the simulation run using the Process Manager.
