About Multiple Bodies in Sheetmetal Design
A multibody sheet metal part can have any number of sheet metal bodies and any number of solid bodies. A part with at least one sheet metal body is a sheet metal part. You cannot remove the last, single, sheet metal body from a sheet metal part or convert a single sheet metal body to a solid body. You can, however, convert the sheet metal part to a solid part.
Sheet metal bodies have preferences and parameters that can be dependent on the part preferences and parameters (linked to the part), or have their own, independent preferences and parameters (unlinked from the part). Different sheet metal bodies can have different preferences, some bodies can be dependent on part preferences and some independent. By default, when you create a new sheet metal body, it is linked to the part.
• For a sheet metal part, two tabs are made available:
◦ Sheetmetal—This ribbon contains all sheet metal related tools. Use this ribbon to design and work with sheet metal bodies.
◦ Model—This ribbon allows you to model solid bodies and quilts.
• Consolidated tools such as Extrude, Blend, and Sweep have been adjusted to reflect the context in which they are launched.
