Extend Ply Boundary
Extending a ply enables you to adjust the boundary and increase the area of the laminate object. The increased area of the laminate object provides extra material that helps in manufacturing activities, such as positioning the laminate object on the mold. You cannot use the extend actions to shrink or trim the area.
You can use any of the following extend actions to extend the ply area:
Extend by Value—Adjusts the selected extension chain of a ply or a core by a specified offset distance. When a laminate object contains an outer and an inner loop, the laminate object can be extended by making the outer loop bigger or inner loop smaller. To learn how to extend a ply boundary by specifying a value, see Extend Ply Boundary by Value.
Extend by Reference—Adjusts the specified extension chain up to the specified extension references. You can use this method to extend the boundary of only plies. To learn how to extend a ply boundary by specifying extension references, see Extend Ply Boundary by Reference.
Extend by Contour—Joins a closed loop contour to the ply boundary. You can use this method to extend the boundary of only plies. You can use an existing loop or create and use curves. The new ply boundary is the outline of the merged closed loop area and ply area. To learn how to extend a ply boundary by joining it with the closed-loop contours, see Extend Ply Boundary by Contour.

You can use an action-object or object-action approach in all extend actions.
