About Multiple Bodies in Sheetmetal Design
Creo 7 introduces a new multibody functionality that requires changes to the top-level user interface, and features, of previous Creo releases. Among these changes:
• When a sheet metal part is active, two tabs are made available:
◦ Sheetmetal—This ribbon contains all sheet metal related tools. Use this ribbon to design a sheet metal body.
◦ Model—This ribbon allows you to model solid bodies and quilts. It also allows you to apply Boolean operations between bodies.
• Consolidated tools such as Extrude, Blend, and Sweep have been adjusted to reflect the context in which they are launched.
In Creo 7, a sheet metal part can have a single sheet metal body and any number of solid bodies.
Use the Convert tool to perform the following conversions:
• Convert a solid part to a sheet metal part using the Convert to Sheet Metal command
• Convert a sheet metal part to a solid part using the Convert to Solid Part command
When converting a solid part to a sheet metal part, the Convert tool Settings drop-down contains three options:
•
—Convert a solid body to a sheet metal body by selecting a driving surface.
•
—Convert a solid body to a sheet metal body by hollowing out the inside of the solid.
•
—Convert an empty solid body to an empty sheet metal body.
