You can create a datum reference feature in Assembly for intent surfaces. These features and the intent surface that they create can be used as references for datum reference features at the same level or higher, for annotation features, the Appearance tool, and so on.
There are two referencing types for datum reference features in an assembly:
• Local
◦ Allows collecting local surface references.
◦ Creates a regular Intent Surface object.
• In Context
◦ Allows collecting local references as well as references of subassemblies or parts in the same assembly.
◦ Creates an Intent Surface (InContext) object, referencing:
▪ Individual surfaces or surface collections using rules or queries.
▪ Datum reference features along with Intent Surfaces of both types from the same level or from sub-levels.
Benefits
Easily and efficiently capture and define semantic surface references for assembly-level annotations.
