Analyze 3D wall thickness
3D Wall Thickness analyzes a plastic part for areas that are too thick or too thin to manufacture properly, according to maximum or minimum tolerances that you specify. The results show your 3D model in the viewport, color-coded according to areas that are above, within, and below the tolerance limits. Creo Elements/Direct Modeling executes the analysis on the facet model, so the quality and performance depend directly on the facet refinement.
To analyze a 3D model,
1. Click Mold Design and then in the Analysis group, click the arrow next to Wall Thickness.
2. Click 3D. The Wall Thickness 3D dialog box opens.
3. Select the part or face for analysis.
4. Set your minimum and maximum tolerance limits.
5. Click Calculate. Creo Elements/Direct Modeling displays the 3D results of your analysis in the viewport.
With 3D wall thickness analysis, you can
Select one or more faces to analyze, or select entire parts.
Use Critical only to quickly display only problem regions.
Control the analysis of sharp edges and side faces using Detect side.
Improve Facet Refinement for more accurate visual feedback.
Enter the Minimal or the Maximum value for the calculation.
The color coding will be done from Minimal to Maximum.
If you set Critical only and specify a value only for Minimal, the color coding will be done for the critical range defined by Min. Limit to Minimal. The same is true for Maximum.
Change the color-coded results with Display Parameters.
Export your calculated graphics to a PDF file when the U3D module is activated.
