New mold
To create a new mold, click Mold Base and the, in the Create group, click Mold. The New mold dialog box opens and the system automatically previews (in wire frame) a standard 9-plate mold according to the selected insert and the plate rules defined in the previous section (Initialization).
This preview is dynamically updated each time a parameter is modified. The current display is automatically adjusted to fit the mold base.
The dialogue box is divided into the following parameters:
Catalogue: Window to select specific mold base library.
Mold type: To select the type of mold base (we can select a mold base without the core and cavity support plates, that is, without Plate1 and Plate9 (MB19) or without Plate1 only (MB1) or Plate9 only (MB9))
Mold size: Select a different standard mold size to the one, which the system has suggested. The mold size will show the size symbol as dictated by the specific mold catalogue chosen.
Standard or Non-Standard
Click Show Params to show a scheme with a side view of the plates and their numbers as they appear under the Thickness parameter in the next section or a top view of the plates with the base plate, raiser plate and ejector plate dimensions under the Options parameter.
The following options can be chosen in the Parameter box:
Thickness
Accesses the thickness for each plate.
Standard components
Choose which components (or none) will be created with the initial mold base.
Options (non-standard)
To define the main plate dimensions (width and length).
On validation the mold base will be created as an assembly containing the sub-assemblies Components, Mobile side and Static side (These are the default names). The plates will be created as Creo Elements/Direct Modeling parts with the names Plate1 to Plate9. Plate names can be changed using the Plate Settings dialog box in Settings.
