Define and manage groups and units
You can define groups and units to better organize your cabling harness.
• A unit is like a subassembly. A cable may only belong to one unit.
• A group is a collection of cables from different units. A single cable may belong to more than one group.
You can control the visualization of groups with the Visualization command in the Wire Grouping group.
To define a unit,
1. Click
Tools and then, in the
Wire Grouping group, click the arrow next to
Unit.
2. Click
Define unit. The
Create New Unit dialog box opens.
3. Give the unit a Name.
4. Click
Next to define another unit, or click
to complete the operation.
Set units active with the
Set active unit command in the
Wire Grouping group (click the arrow next to
Unit).
To define a group,
1. Click
Tools and then, in the
Wire Grouping group, click the arrow next to
Group.
2. Click
Define group. The
Create Group dialog box opens.
3. Hold the SHIFT key while selecting the cables you wish to add to the group. Selecting a single cable segment adds that entire cable to the group.
4. Give the group a Name and a Description.
5. Click
to complete the operation.
To remove a group definition,
1. Click
Tools and then, in the
Wire Grouping group, click the arrow next to
Group.
2. Click
Delete group. The
Remove Group dialog box opens.
3. Double-click the group in the Structure Browser.
4. Click
to complete the operation.
To modify a group,
1. Click
Tools and then, in the
Wire Grouping group, click the arrow next to
Group.
2. Click
Modify group. The
Modify Group dialog box opens.
3. Double-click the group in the Structure Browser. The Cabling Group Definition dialog box opens.
4. Add or Remove cables in the Cabling Group Definition dialog box.
5. Click
to complete the operation.
To highlight a group,
1. Click
Tools and then, in the
Wire Grouping group, click the arrow next to
Group.
2. Click
Highlight group.
3. Double-click the group in the Structure Browser.
4. Click
to complete the operation.
