Revise Masterdata
Most Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager uses do not require multiple revisions of Masterdata. Typically, model and drawing revisions are sufficient to describe the changes to a part or product over time. If you are using an MRP or ERP system to manage your product lifecycle, Masterdata revisioning may not be right for you. However, if you want to track changes or manage the state and lifecycle attributes specific to Masterdata, then Masterdata revisioning may be right for you.
*
Your Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager Administrator must turn on the Masterdata revision feature. See Help > Customization Guide for more information (<PartHistoryManagement>).
Revise your Masterdata when you need to change material, suppliers, cost, description, or any Masterdata attribute. When you create a new Masterdata revision, Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager keeps a copy of the Masterdata information in a history table with information about the change, who changed it, and when it was changed.
When you revise Masterdata, it is not part of any BOM. To use the new Masterdata revision in a BOM, use the BOM Editor, Create (scan) BOM, or New Version Replace.
Masterdata classes

By default, you can only revise released Masterdata. Each time you revise, Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager copies the Masterdata to the primary class and moves the original to the history classes.
If configured by your administrator, you can revise Masterdata in any state. Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager copies the Masterdata to the primary class and moves the previous versions to the history classes, regardless of its state.
To revision Masterdata,
1. Select the Masterdata, click Structure and then, in the Modify group, click Revise. Alternatively, right-click the Masterdata and, in the shortcut menu, click Revise. (The Masterdata must be in state released if <StateBased> is true.)
2. Type the information for the Change Note: Title, Comment, Change Index.
3. Click OK. Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager revises the Masterdata, and
Changes the Masterdata state from released to work.
Assigns the Masterdata a revision number or letter.
Copies the previously released Masterdata information to the Masterdata History folder and identifies the older version with a new icon .
4. In the new Masterdata version, edit the attributes as needed.
You can find all Masterdata revisions in the History folder in the workspace, or in DB Properties > Revision History.
Subscribe to receive e-mail when a Masterdata has a new revision. See Subscribe and unsubscribe.

Change Notes are always in sync with their associated items. When Masterdata is released, so is the Change Note.
