How to.. > Work with Masterdata > Replace models or Masterdata
Replace models or Masterdata
Use the New Version Replace command to quickly find and replace Masterdata or a model in an assembly. For example, you ship 25 computers with the same keyboard. You modify the keyboard for next year's release, so you need to replace this new keyboard in 10 of the computers. Use New Version Replace to find all the places the original keyboard is used. Then select the 10 computers where you will replace the old keyboard with the new keyboard.
Replace the Masterdata if the replacement is still equivalent to the original. For example, you might replace the Masterdata if the newer version is made from a different material or if it has a different supplier.
Replace a model if the replacement maintains the same position or alignment of the original.
To replace models or Masterdata,
1. Select the model or Masterdata in the workspace, click Structure and then, in the Modify group, click New Version Replace. Alternatively, right-click the model or Masterdata and, in the shortcut menu, click New Version Replace. The New Version Replace dialog box displays all the parent assemblies that
contain older versions.
are in the same or lower state than the newer version. For example, you cannot replace an item in state work if the parent is in state released.
2. Select the parent of the item you want to replace with the newer version. Use CTRL to select multiple items at once.
3. Click OK.
Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager replaces the older version and copies its link attributes to the newer version.

You can replace a released part or Masterdata in a released assembly; however,
You must be a member of the ReleasedItemManagers group.
