Enablement of Codebeamer AI Services for PTC Hosted Deployments
As part of the Codebeamer AI 1.2 onboarding process for the Search Assistant, PTC undertakes a critical one-time registration of customer-specific service credentials namely the Client ID and Client Secret essential for enabling Codebeamer AI services for the Search Assistant. Currently, this registration is facilitated through a PTC-supported setup process, ensuring a smooth and reliable integration. PTC is dedicated to enhancing this experience in future releases, aiming to simplify the process further and minimize the need for manual coordination, thereby providing users with a more seamless, efficient onboarding journey.
Follow the steps below for enablement of Codebeamer AI services:
1. Open an eSupport ticket at PTC Support.
2. In the ticket, specify that you want to configure Codebeamer AI capabilities for your PTC-hosted Codebeamer environment. Indicate that you will be sharing the service principal credentials (Client ID and Client Secret) with a designated PTC engineer. For information on creating the service principal, see Create a Service Principal for Codebeamer(On-Premises) and Codebeamer+ Installations.
*
Client Secret information should never be provided in the support ticket. PTC will coordinate with you through email to securely obtain the Client Secret.
3. PTC reaches out to you through email to receive the service principal Client ID and Client Secret.
4. Once the credentials are received, PTC completes the required configuration tasks to enable AI functionality.
*
If the client secret is rotated, you must reshare the updated Client Secret with PTC. The Search Assistant and Indexing Service features will not function until PTC updates the configuration with the new client secret. As a result, there may be temporary downtime affecting only the Search Assistant and Indexing Service features.
The configuration process may require several business days to complete. PTC performs the necessary configuration activities during standard business days only. For example, if a ticket is raised or the Client Secret is shared on a Friday, the required configuration activities will not begin until the following week.
If the service principal is not configured correctly, AI-dependent features, such as semantic search and indexing, may not function as expected.
Use the PTC Support portal for all support requests and follow-up communication. The engineer who contacts you regarding credential exchange is part of a non-customer-facing technical team and cannot provide product support through email.
