Options for Creating Test Runs
When creating a test run, you must configure the options which determine how the test runs are created, what test cases they contain, and which users get assigned to the new test runs.
You can change these options in the Test Run Creation Options section on the Test Runs > Submit Work Item page that appears when you create a new test run by clicking in the toolbar of a test run page. For more information, see Creating Test Runs directly from Test Cases (without Test Sets).
The following table describes these configuration options:
Option
Meaning
Create Test Run as formal or as regular?
Determines if the test run is generated as a formal test run or a regular test run. Formal test runs can have a review before and after running a test run. The formal option is enabled only when a test run is generated from accepted test cases. For example, when there are only accepted test cases in a test set.
Include non-Accepted Test Cases?
This option allows you to choose whether not-accepted test cases are included in the test run or not. This option appears only when there is at least one non-accepted test case in the test run.
How would you like to distribute the work between the assigned users and roles?
Determines whether multiple test runs are created for each assignee.
Include children of the selected Test Cases?
Determines if all the children of the selected test cases also are included in the new test run. This option only appears when running a selection of test cases, not when running a test set.
Create one Test Run for each Test Cases?
Using this option, you can choose to create one test run for each test case rather than one test run that contains all test cases or tests sets. For example, if five test cases are selected, this option creates five test runs, each containing one test case.
