The File Menu
When the PTC Server connection is installed, the following additional items are added to the default Arbortext EditorFile menu.
This dialog box enables you to save the content of the document open in
Arbortext Editor into the PTC Server, bursting the content based on the
bursting rules specified for the document's document type.
Save As Server Object is only available when connected to a PTC Server, and when the open document has a content type (such as SGML or XML) supported by
Arbortext Editor.
Note that if the administrator has turned user override off in the burst configuration, the Save As Properties dialog box is not displayed. The object is saved into the PTC Server based on the rules defined in the burst configuration.
• Upload Document To Server — Uploads the document currently checked out in Arbortext Editor to the PTC Server, bursting the content based on the bursting rules specified for the document's document type.
Upload Document To Server is only available when connected to a PTC Server and editing a document stored in the PTC Server. See the Arbortext Content Manager or Windchill documentation for more information about workspaces.
• Update Document — Updates non-checked out objects in the document currently open in Arbortext Editor, including graphics, to the version specified in the workspace configuration specification.
This enables you to see the latest changes to objects included in the current document. Update Document is only available when connected to a PTC Server and editing a document stored in the PTC Server.
• Exit and Close PTC Server Connection Session — Closes Arbortext Editor as usual when the administrator has enabled a background timer.
This choice only appears on the File menu when the BackgroundSessionTimeout parameter is enabled in the siteprefs.xml file. In this case, Arbortext Editor runs hidden in the background for a specified time when you select > . This enables you to open Arbortext Editor quickly from the PTC Server HTML Interface without having to reconnect to the PTC Server. The Exit and Close PTC Server Connection Session choice closes Arbortext Editor as usual in this case.
The
File menu also includes a list of recently edited files. If a file in that list is in the PTC Server, you can check the file out of the PTC Server and open it for editing by selecting that file from the list. If you are not currently connected to a PTC Server, the
Connect dialog box opens. Once you connect to the PTC Server, the selected file is checked out and opened for editing.
