Text Entities Overview
Use a text entity to replace a long string of text, such as a text entity named XML for eXtensible Markup Language. You can insert the text entity from a toolbar drop down list more quickly than typing the text.
You can create text entities for text that changes often, such as a revision number for a manual. When the revision number changes, you will only need to modify the text entity; the change is automatically made in every place the text entity markup icon appears in your document.
A text entity can include other text entities as well as text and other markup. For example, if your company name includes subdivisions, you can create a “company” entity and include a “subdivision” entity within it. In this way, if a subdivision is changed or sold, you can modify the “subdivision” entity or remove it from the “company” entity.
Text entities can be up to 8000 characters in length.
After you insert a text entity, it appears as a single markup icon representing the text entity. You can view the contents of your text entities within your document by choosing View > Text Entities.
Create a file entity if you want an entity using a large amount of text or using a whole document.
