Choosing a Print Engine Setting for Preview with Arbortext Styler
This section describes some typical situations in which you might want to specify an effective print engine for document preview within Arbortext Styler.
Single Output Stylesheet
You may wish to have a stylesheet be used with only one print engine, e.g. PTC ALD. You will only want to preview the output in a single format. Use the following settings:
1. Configure the stylesheet to use the default print engine, for example PTC ALD. Refer to the Print Engine field in the Print/PDF tab of the Stylesheet Properties dialog box.
Multi Output Stylesheet
You may wish to maintain a stylesheet that can be used to support both PTC ALD and FOSI formats to take advantage of their different features. You may want to preview the same document via both engines to make sure specific requirements are being handled correctly. Use the following settings
1. Configure the stylesheet to use the default print engine, for example PTC ALD. Refer to the Print Engine field in the Print/PDF tab of the Stylesheet Properties dialog box.
2. Before each preview action, select the required print engine for preview using the set printengineoverride command in Arbortext Editor.
Revert to the stylesheet setting by entering set printengineoverride=no.

The FOSI and XSL-FO print engines are on sustained support and do not receive enhancements or maintenance fixes. PTC ALD is the recommended engine for print/PDF output.
