Creating a 2x2 Matrix
The following example shows a 2x2 matrix.
This is a picture of a 2x2 matrix.
1. To create this matrix in the Equation Editor window, from the keyboard, type: T=
2. Choose Constructs > Delimiters > Pairs > brackets. (Another method is simply to type [.
*
Notice that entering a delimiter from the keyboard produces a complete pair of that delimiter.
3. Choose Constructs > Matrices > 2x2. The upper left element is outlined by the marker.
4. From the keyboard, type: R
5. Point and click on the box in the upper right corner.
6. From the keyboard, type: I
7. Click on and type O and J in the bottom two boxes.
You can choose 2x2 or 3x3 matrix, or Prompt Me to make a different size matrix. Choosing Prompt Me brings up a response panel, where you can enter an arbitrary pair of values (for example, 4x5). Delete the response panel's suggested choice before typing in your choice, if different.
To add text after the matrix:
1. Press F5 until the marker surrounds the entire construct, including the square brackets. (The first time you press F5, the marker surrounds the matrix element. The next time you press the key, the marker surrounds the matrix itself. Finally it surrounds the paired delimiters.)
2. From the keyboard, type: x2 to create the following.
