Viewing Workspace Objects
The content of your workspace is presented in a table that has display and customization features in common with tables throughout Windchill. For more information on basic table use, sorting, using and customizing views, and finding strings in the table listing, see Using Tables and Customizing Table Views.
In addition, the workspace has a menu that allows you to select how objects are listed in the workspace table. The menu options include the following views:
As a list (default)—A listing of all objects in your workspace.
As a Featured Objects list—A featured objects list is designed to restrict the number of objects displayed in the workspace. The goal is to list the objects likely to be the most interesting and useful to you, as defined by specific rules.
For more information, see Using a Featured Objects List in Your Workspace.
As a Top Level Objects list—A top level objects list is designed to restrict the number of objects displayed in the workspace. The goal is to list only objects that are individual parts and assemblies that have no parent assemblies in the workspace.
For more information, see Using a Top Level Objects List in Your Workspace.
Incomplete Objects
*
The concept of incomplete objects applies only to Windchill PDMLink, Windchill ProjectLink, or Pro/INTRALINK.
Most CAD applications are associative. As a result, files created by CAD application often refer to other files rather than copying information from one file to another. When you import or save CAD files to a Windchill workspace, some files saved may have name references to files that are not saved to the workspace. An example would be a child of an assembly that may have been suppressed and is not available to be saved to the workspace.
These name-referenced files are referred to as incomplete CAD documents or incomplete objects (sometimes referred to as "ghosts"). They are represented in the workspace by the incomplete dependent icon. Objects created in the workspace without a template are also incomplete. An incomplete object does not have an Open in <CAD application> command available in either the workspace listing page or in the information page for the incomplete object.
Incomplete objects are visible in the workspace after a save (rather than requiring an upload) of the parent.
To preserve data integrity, you are not allowed to check in a parent object if any required dependents are incomplete. See the topics Replacing Incomplete Objects, and Adding a Placeholder, for more information about resolving incomplete objects.
*
When the user customizes the icon for a Part soft-type from the Type and Attribute Management utility, then those customized icons and their display names are visible in the standalone and embedded browser workspaces.
The customized icon is displayed, even if any of the modeled attributes, End Item, Configurable Module or Gathering Part were already set. Also, the customized Part icon will be loaded after initial loading of the workspace page due to performance reasons.
