Before you can analyze a part for topology optimization, you create a model that captures the real-world conditions that the model will undergo. The model must be set up by defining loads, constraints, regions to be optimized, regions that remain the same, and by creating and assigning materials.

If the setup elements such as loads, constraints, material assignment, and regions are already defined in a model, then they appear in the Creo Topology Optimization environment. You can use the model setup from other sources, such as, from legacy models or from other users.

You can set up a model in the Creo Topology Optimization environment. You can also set up the model in Creo Simulate FEM (Finite Element Method) mode first, and then open the model in Creo Topology Optimization. For information about setting up a model in FEM mode, see topics in the Creo Simulate help. Some functionality in Creo Simulate, might not be available in Creo Topology Optimization.
