Using the Options Toolbar to Position Components
You can position one or more components using the Options Toolbar that appears when you select a component and click on the Live Toolbar.
Button
Description
Selects a geometric reference from the assembly or the component. The selected reference is populated in the primary collector.
Selects a reference on the component if you have selected a geometric reference from the assembly in the previous step. The selected reference appears in the secondary collector.
Toggles the display of the dragger.
Relocates or rotates the dragger to change the origin of its movement.
For positioning a component, you can select one of the following constraints from the constraints list:
Constraint
Description
Automatic
Places the component reference automatically with respect to the assembly reference based on an appropriate constraint.
Distance
Places the component reference at a relative distance from the assembly reference.
Angle Offset
Places the component reference at an angle to the assembly reference.
Parallel
Places the component reference parallel to the assembly reference.
Coincident
Places the component reference coincident with the assembly reference.
Normal
Places the component reference normal to the assembly reference.
Tangent
Places two references of different types so that the references face each other. The point of contact is a tangent.
Centered
Places the component reference center to the assembly reference.
Coplanar
Places the component reference coplanar with the assembly reference.
