To Substitute Geometric Entities
1. Select the surfaces to replace in the graphics window.
Hold down the CTRL key to select multiple surfaces.
2. Click
Home >
Substitute Faces. An Options Toolbar appears. Click
to see the Floating Dashboard. The name of the surface or a number indicating the total selected surfaces, appears in the
Faces to substitute panel.
3. Select a quilt, surface or a set of surfaces as the substituting faces from the graphics window. An arrow appears on the substituting surface.
4. Click the arrow to substitute the entities selected in step 1.
| • You can select external references as substituting faces. • In case of a quilt as a substituting face, the Keep substituting quilt check box is selected by default to keep the substituting quilt as it is after substitution. This prevents the substituting quilt from being removed during substitution. • Clear the Keep substituting quilt check box to allow the substituting quilt to be removed by the substitute feature. • The Keep substituting quilt check box is available only when you select a quilt for the replacement operation. |
5. To reverse the normal direction of the substituting surfaces, in the
Material side panel, click
Flip.
Alternatively, click the arrow in the graphics window, to reverse the direction.
6. To select a bounding edge reference:
a. Select the Attach geometry check box.
b. Click the Bounding edges collector.
c. Select one or more edges from the model tree or Graphics Window.
7. To view an outcome, click
or
one or more times in the
Solutions panel. Or select a pre calculated value from the adjacent list.
8. To recreate round or chamfer geometry after the surface selection is substituted, select the Recreate rounds and chamfers check box.
9. To maintain round or chamfer geometry after the surface selection is substituted, select the Maintain rounds and chamfers check box.
10. Middle-click to complete.
