To Change the Location of the Cross Section or Position the Cross Section
When the Options Toolbar or the Floating Dashboard is open in the graphics window, you can position the cross section using one of the following methods:
• Drag the cross section using the dragger to the desired location. By default the dragger origin is located at the center of the clipping plane.
• Set the distance of the cross section from the reference by specifying a value or selecting from the list of recently used values in the
Offset box next to
(on the
Position panel in the Floating Dashboard). The section is offset from the reference by the specified distance.
• Click
(on the
Position panel in the Floating Dashboard) to enable free positioning of the clipping plane. When free positioning is enabled, you can use the dragger to translate and rotate the clipping plane orientation.
To Set the Origin of the Dragger for Free Positioning
1. On the
Position panel, click
to enable free positioning of the clipping plane.
2. Click the collector in the Reference Plane panel.
3. Click the Origin collector to activate it and select a location reference as the origin for the clipping plane. The origin of the dragger is placed at the selected location.
| • You can select a datum point, vertex, coordinate system, edge, curve, axis, cross section, or surface as the location reference. • Upon selecting a new planar reference or disabling the free positioning of the clipping plane, the origin of the dragger is reset to the default origin and the Origin collector is automatically cleared. |
