Organize parts and assemblies > Copy or share parts and assemblies > Create a selective instance

Create a selective instance
To selectively unshare a part or subassembly from a shared assembly structure:
1. Click Structure and then, in the Part & Assembly group, click Selective.
2. Click Unshare. The Sel Unshare dialog box opens.
3. Specify the part or subassembly to be the source of the selective instance:
Select it from the Structure Browser.
Enter its path and name in the Source data entry field.
Click the part in the viewport.
4. If necessary, enter a different name for the selective instance in the Name data entry field. (By default, Creo Elements/Direct Modeling displays the source component's name.)
5. If necessary, select a different assembly context for the selective instance in the Context data entry field. (By default, Creo Elements/Direct Modeling displays the name of the first higher-level assembly in which the selective instance has an impact.)
6. Click to complete the operation.
Creo Elements/Direct Modeling creates the selective instance for the part or subassembly, and (if necessary) also the chain from the context assembly down to the component. You can see selective instances in the Structure Browser; an X symbol denotes selective unsharing of a component within the shared assembly structure.
