Example: Removing helical volume from an existing part
In this example, an existing part (1) has a cylindrical hole (2). You will sweep a trapezoidal profile (3) along a left-hand helical path defined by the axis of the cylindrical hole (2). The result is a tapped hole (4) with a left-handed screw thread in the existing part.
After creating the workplanes and the profile:
1. Click Modeling and then, in the Model group, click More.
2. Click Helix Remove in Helix section. The Helix dialog box opens.
3. Select the existing part (1).
4. Select the workplane containing the profile (3).
5. Select the surface axis of the cylindrical hole (2) as the axis for the helix.
6. Specify a value for the pitch.
7. Specify the number of turns.
8. (optional) Enter an approximate tolerance value less than .001mm.
9. Switch off the default Right Hand setting to create a left-hand helix.
