Fault-Tolerant (Triad) License Servers?
With the introduction of FLEXlm, PTC will continue to offer customers a fault-tolerant license server configuration which FLEXlm fully supports.
License Timeouts with FLEXlm
PTC's floating license timeout functionality will continue to function with FLEXlm as with Pro/SERVER. The timeout conditions are sumarized below.
- Upon license request, a PTC client application must aquire a license to run the software within one second. If the client does not aquire a license within one second, the request for a license will be denied.
- After a floating license is acquired, PTC client applications will continue to communicate with the license server for license validation. This communication is triggered by the first menu selection after every three minute interval.
- The default license timeout will now be set to 120 minutes. The timeout can be increased to any number larger than 120, but no lower than 120 minutes.
- The FLEXlm server will automatically reclaim a PTC license if the client application prematurely exits. The proflush utility is no longer needed for this function.
