Entering 299B Variable Resistors
The following table describes the part parameters required for variable resistors when 299B is the selected calculation model. The 299B Parts Count model supports all but the following subcategories of variable resistors:
Surface Mount
Trimmer, Var Non WW (RJ and RJR)
Parameter
Type
Description
Quality Level
Choice List [Parts Count also]
The appropriate quality screening level of the device. Accepted quality levels and values for variable resistors follow. For the quality value assigned to a specific variable resistor, see Chinese Standard GJB/z 299B.
A1 = 0.10
A2 = 0.30 or 0.40
B1 = 0.50 or 0.60
B2 = 1.00
C = 4.00 or 6.00
Resistance
Real
The resistance value of the device. This parameter is used in conjunction with Units to enter the resistance value.
Units
Choice List
The units for the Resistance value. Choices are:
ohm
Kohm (ohm * 1000)
Type
Choice List
Required only for the following subcategories of variable resistors: Carbon (RV); Film (RVC and RV); Glass Glazed, Var; Organic Solid, Var; and Precision WW (RQ).
Identifies the type of variable resistor. The choices vary by subcategory.
Construction Type
Choice List
Not required for the following subcategories of variable resistors: Glass Glazed, Var; Lead Screw Var WW (RT and RTR); Precision, Var WW (RR); and Semiprecision (RA and RIC).
The construction class of the resistor. Choices are:
Non-Seal
Seal
Number of Taps
Integer
The number of potentiometer connections, including the wiper and end termination.
