Updating a Block from the Library Browse window
Using the Library Browse window, you can update the active block in the System file with a block in an RBD Block Library file. Performing this procedure copies both the calculation and visual properties for the library block and pastes them to the System file block.
1. In the System file, select the block to update in either the RBD Blocks or RBD Diagram pane.
2. Select RBD > Browse Libraries. The auto-hide Library Browse window opens in the pinned mode. For more information, see Library Browse Window.
3. In its Search window, do the following:
a. For Search for, select RBD Blocks.
b. Supply the search criteria to use. For more information, see RBD Blocks Search Criteria.
If you do not enter any search criteria, when you initiate the search, all blocks in enabled RBD Blocks Library files are retrieved and shown in the Results window.
c. To initiate the search, click Search or press Enter.
Search Button
Enabled RBD Blocks Library files are searched for block matches. Search results are shown in the Results window.
4. In the Results window, do the following:
a. Select the row containing the block to use in the update.
b. Click Update.
This button is unavailable if the active block is a repeated block or is linked to another system tree item or another diagram. You cannot perform updates on repeated or linked blocks.
The properties for the library block are copied to the System file block. During this process, on the General page in the block’s Calculation Properties window, the identifier for the library block is copied to Library Identifier, and the name of the RBD Block Library file is shown in Library of Retrieval, which is display-only. This allows you to easily keep the data for the System file block synchronized with the data for the library block. For more information, see Updating a Block from its Calculation Properties.
The Library Browse window remains open in case you want to insert or update additional blocks.
5. When you are finished inserting or updating blocks, close the Library Browse window by clicking the X in the upper right corner of the window.
