Maintenance Interval Optimization Parameters window
The Maintenance Intervals Optimization Parameters window provides for indicating whether you want to calculate and use optimal task intervals the next time that RBD calculations run. This window lists all tasks inserted for blocks in the current diagram and possibly also those in linked diagrams. For more information, see Inserting Maintenance Tasks for a Block.
The following table describes the columns in the Maintenance Intervals Optimization Parameters window. The Optimization Type column is always available. The availability of other columns depends on what you select for it. The values for all display-only columns are those that supplied in the properties for the task. For more information, see Specifying Task Interval Optimization Parameters.
Column
Description
Task
The unique identifier assigned to the task in the block’s Calculation Properties window. This column is display-only.
Description
The description assigned to the task in the block’s Calculation Properties window. This column is display-only.
Diagram
The unique identifier assigned to the diagram that contains the block in which the task is inserted. This display-only column is shown only when Show maintenance tasks from linked diagrams is select beneath this table. When this column is shown, table records are sorted by diagram identifiers, then by block identifiers, and then by task identifiers.
Block
The unique identifier assigned to the block in which the task is inserted. This column is display-only. When Diagram is not shown, table records are sorted by block identifiers and then by task identifiers.
Optimization Type
Indicates whether to calculate the optimal interval for performing the task. Choices are:
None. When selected (default), the number of days specified for Maintenance interval under Schedule is used.
Local. When selected, the next time RBD calculations run, the optimal interval for this task is calculated in respect to only this block.
Global. When selected, the next time RBD calculations run, the optimal interval for this task is calculated in respect to the entire system diagram. Both Minimum and Maximum become available so that you can specify the lower and upper limits to use when calculating the optimal interval.
Minimum
The minimum value to consider for the interval during optimization. The default is 0. This column cannot be blank. The value that is shown or entered must be 0 or greater. It must also be less than the value for Maximum.
Maximum
The maximum value to consider for the interval during optimization. The default is #, which means infinite or no upper bound. The value that is shown or entered must be greater than or equal to the value for Minimum.
Units
Indicates whether the units for the optimized interval are operating days or calendar days. This column is display-only.
Optimized Result
Displays the result from the last optimization calculation that was performed. This column is display-only. If NA (for Not Applicable) is shown, the optimal interval has not yet been calculated.
Use Optimized Result
Indicates whether to use the optimized interval currently calculated for the task when you next run RBD calculations. This checkbox is available when the value for Optimized Result is either not NA or is greater than 0. In this case, you can select the checkbox to use the existing value.
In the lower left corner of the window, Show maintenance tasks from linked diagrams indicates whether the table is to show tasks in linked diagrams. When this checkbox is cleared (default), the table shows only tasks for blocks in the active diagram. When it is selected, the table shows tasks for blocks in this diagram and all linked diagrams. In this case, the Diagram column is shown in the table so that you can identify the source diagram. Selecting or clear this checkbox refreshes the table.
In the lower right corner of this window are Excel and Print buttons, which you can use to save table results to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or to print them to a printer. For more information, see Excel and Print Buttons.
