Resistor and Capacitor Part Number Decoding Algorithms
While manufacturers of military and commercial resistors and capacitors have adopted part numbering conventions, frequently variations exist in how manufacturers assign part numbers. Supplied Resistor/Capacitor libraries can save you thousands of hours of time by retrieving appropriate part parameters for a particular resistor or capacitor. Although Resistor/Capacitor libraries are very large, data retrieval time is only a fraction of a second!
As described in Part Number Searches, if part number searching is turned on, when you enter a part number in the Parts Table, an attempt is made to find a match. When the search algorithm is in use, the entered part number is decoded to retrieve parameter values for a part match. The data that is retrieved and shown in part-related panes depends on the completeness of the part number. The more complete the part number, the more complete the retrieved data.
