Entering Telcordia Integrated Circuits
The following table describes the part parameters required for integrated circuits when a Telcordia model is selected for the calculation. These models support all but the following subcategories of integrated circuits:
Bubble Memory
Custom
EEPROM
GaAs Digital
GaAs MMIC
Linear
Logic, CGA or ASIC
Memory
Microprocessor
PAL, PLA
SAW - Surface Acoustic Wave
VHSIC/VLSI CMOS
Parameter
Type
Description
Technology Type
Choice List
The technology type of the device. Choices are:
Bipolar
NMOS
CMOS
Quality Level
Choice List
The quality screening level used in the manufacturing of the device. For more information, see Telcordia Quality Levels.
# of Gates
Integer
Not required for the for the following subcategories: EEPROM, Linear, and Memory.
The number of active gates in the package. You can determine the gate count from the logic diagram. A J-K or R-S flip flop is equivalent to 6 gates when used as part of an LSI circuit. For the purposes of a Telcordia prediction, a gate is considered to be any one of the following functions: AND, OR, exclusive OR, NAND, NOR, and inverter. When a logic diagram is not available, use device transistor count to determine gate count using the following equations:
Bipolar: Gates = # Transistors / 3
CMOS: Gates = # Transistors / 4
All other MOS, except CMOS: Gates = # Transistors / 3
# of Transistors
Integer
Required only for the following subcategories: Linear and PAL, PLA.
The number of active transistors in the package. You can determine the transistor count from the logic diagram.
# of Bits
Integer
Required only for the following subcategories: EEPROM and Memory.
The number of bits in the device. This parameter is used in conjunction with Units to enter the memory device bits.
Units
Choice List
Required only for the following subcategories: EEPROM and Memory.
The units for the # of Bits value. Choices are:
b (bits)
Kb (1024 bits)
Mb (1,048,576 bits)
Gb (1,073,741,824 bits)
The default is Kb. However, you can enter the unit in many ways. For example, for a 1-kilobit memory chip, you can enter a 1 for # of Bits and select Kb for Units, or you can enter 1024 for # of Bits and select b for Units.
Package Type
Choice List
Not required for Telcordia Issue 2, 3, and 4.
Indicates how the chip is packaged. Choices are Hermetic and Non-Hermetic.
[Temperature Parameters}
Real (Degrees C)
Not required if Method I Case 1 or Method I Case 2 is selected as the calculation method.
For more information, see Basic Temperature Parameters.
