Events and Gates
You begin building a fault tree by clearly defining the top event, which is the undesired event to be analyzed. You then define the various combinations of events that can lead to the occurrence of the top event. To connect various levels of the tree, you insert gates, which are logic operators. The properties you specify for gates indicate how lower-level events cause the top event to occur. The following topics describe all of the various types of events and gates that are available:
