Using a FMEA Group File
When a FMEA Group file has been set up as described in Setting Up a FMEA Group File, in the Select File window, you can select it as the basis for generating either a FMEA report or graph from the data in multiple System files in the same Project.
To open the Select File window for reporting or graphing, do one of the following:
Click the Report Design, Report Binder, or Graph Template file in the Project Navigator when multiple System files exit in the Project but none of them is open.
Generate a report for print or preview when the Report Design file is open in the Report Designer.
When the Select File window opens, you can select a FMEA Group file.
1. Perform one of the above actions to open the Select File window for a report or graph.
2. Click the field’s browse button. A window opens for selecting the System file to use from all those in the Project. Because a FMEA Report Design, Report Binder file, or Graph Template file has been selected, the FMEA Group files in the Project are also listed along with System files.
3. Select the FMEA Group file to use. If you click < No selection >, which appears at the top of the list, the window closes. Clicking the green checkmark or red X closes the window without changing the selection.
After you make your selection, the Select File window shows the selected FMEA Group file.
4. Click OK. The FMEA report or graph is generated using the data in the multiple System files specified in the FMEA Group file. The data is treated as if it was all in one very large System file.
FMEA Group files cannot be used in conjunction with system tree configurations. For more information, see System Tree Item Configurations Window. When generating a FMEA report based on a system tree, it is based on all assemblies and parts in the tree.

You must have at least Read permissions for all System files included in the FMEA Group file. If you do not, an error message appears, indicating the System files could not be accessed. The data contained in these System files is not included in the FMEA report or graph generated.
