Results for the Initial Risk Level or Resulting Risk Level fields in the FMEA Worksheet table are calculated based on risk matrix definitions. In the Project’s FMEA Risk Matrix file, different risk matrix definitions can be configured to represent the various factors taken into account for different risk calculations. The X-axis, Y-axis, and possibly Y2-axis fields are used to represent the input factors for determining the risk level. The field used to store the calculated risk level is also defined in the risk matrix definition.

In the FMEA Risk Matrix file, default risk matrix definitions can be selected for initial and resulting risk levels for each type of FMEA. However, within a System file, the risk matrix definitions can be overridden for each record in the FMEA Table. Based on the selected risk matrix definition, the specified initial and resulting risk level fields are automatically updated when the input values change.
