Ideal functional outputs, also called ideal functions or ideal responses, are outputs from the system. The design engineer must understand what conditions must exist for the input to pass through the system to produce the ideal functional output. The goal is to avoid efficiency losses that result from noise factors so that the output delivered is as close to the ideal output as possible.
