Causes Pane
If > is selected in the properties for the FMEA Modes Library file, the Causes pane is shown. The table in this pane displays the causes inserted for the failure mode selected in the Modes table. It also provides for inserting additional causes for this mode. The following table describes the columns in the Causes table.

When a mode is selected in the Modes table, clicking
< Click here to insert a new record > in the last row in the Causes table inserts a new cause for this mode. For more information, see
Inserting Multiple Causes for a Failure Mode.
When the row selected in the Modes table is not a mode, the last row in the Causes table displays the following message:
Insert or select a Mode to enable the Causes table.
You can insert any number of causes in the Causes table for the active mode. Duplicate causes are not permitted. If during the insertion of a component FMEA, you indicated that modes are to be inserted for parts, the following are copied into the FMEA Worksheet table:
• The modes inserted in the Modes table
• The causes inserted in the Causes table
