FMEA System File Properties
The following table describes the properties that appear under FMEA in the System file properties. These properties affect Windchill FMEA when this module is in use.
Property
Description
Automatically roll up Effects
Indicates whether completing Local Effect for a failure mode in the FMEA Worksheet table causes the same text to be inserted for Failure Mode for the next higher item in the FMEA Tree Items table.
When this checkbox is cleared (default), entering a local effect does not insert the same text as a failure mode for the next higher tree item. In this case, you can manually roll up one or more local effects if desired.
When this checkbox is selected, entering a local effect does insert the same text as a failure mode for the next higher tree item. If this same mode already exists for the next higher item, a duplicate mode is not inserted.
For more information, see FMEA Roll Up and Building.
*
If you begin the entry of local effects with this checkbox cleared and then later select it, from this point forward, entering a local effect inserts the same text as a failure mode for the next higher tree item.
Delete Modes with children
Indicates whether modes with children are deleted when the Build FMEA command is selected. When this checkbox is cleared (default), modes with children are not deleted.
Delete Modes without contributing Effects
Indicates whether modes without contributing effects are deleted when the Build FMEA command is selected. When this checkbox is cleared (default), modes without contributing effects are not deleted.
Do not build Failure Effect Probability
Indicates whether the Failure Effect Probability value is copied from the top-level effect to all lower-level contributing effects when the Build FMEA command is selected.
When this checkbox is cleared (default), the value for the top-level effect is copied to all contributing effects. Some FMEA data structures do not include a separate effects data level. For these structures, the probability value for the failure mode is copied down to the modes that contributed to the top-level effect.
When this checkbox is selected, the value for the top-level effect is not copied to all contributing effects. This means that you can set the probability value at each lower-level effect based on its specific context. The values that you enter are not modified when the Build FMEA command is selected.
