FMEA Roll Up and Building
FMEA roll up refers to the automatic insertion of a failure mode for the next higher item in the FMEA Worksheet table when a local effect is entered in this table. FMEA building refers to progressing down through data levels to fill in certain fields in the FMEA Worksheet table.
In the System file properties, FMEA > Automatically roll up Effects indicates whether FMEA roll up is turned on or off. When this checkbox is selected, FMEA roll up is turned on. This means that the text you insert in Local Effect for a failure mode causes this same text to be inserted for Failure Mode in the next higher item in the FMEA Worksheet table. For more information, see Turning FMEA Roll Up Off and On.
The Build FMEA command provides for progressing down through data levels in the FMEA Worksheet table to fill in the following fields: Next Effect, End Effect, Severity, and possibly Failure Effect Probability. In the System file properties, FMEA > Do not build Failure Effect Probability indicates whether the Failure Effect Probability value is copied from the top-level effect to all lower-level effects when the Build FMEA command is selected. For more information, see Using the ‘Build FMEA’ Command to Fill in FMEA Fields.
