Creating an External Text File Using a New Command
You can use New commands to create text files that are external to the Project.
1. Select File > New > Text and Other Files > Text. The New File window opens.
2. Use the options provided in this window to enter a file name and navigate to the directory where you want to create the file.
The only selection for Save as type is Text Files (*.txt).
3. Click Create to create a text file in the specified directory. It opens in the registered application, which is generally Windows Notepad.

In the Options window, General > List file types on New and Open submenus controls whether submenus for the Open command are shown. When this checkbox is selected (default), submenu commands are shown. When it is cleared, submenu commands are not shown. For more information, see General User Options.
