Applying a Filter Using the Filter Selection Control in the Standard Toolbar
When certain tables or forms are active, you can use the filter selection control in the standard toolbar to apply a filter to limit the records shown. This toolbar is initially shown by default. For more information, see Standard Toolbar.
Filter Selection Control in Standard Toolbar
1. If the standard toolbar is not visible, right-click in the toolbars area and select Standard.
2. If the filter selection control in the standard toolbar is not active, select a table or form that supports filtering to make it active.
3. Use the drop-down control for the filter selection control to choose the filter to apply.
If the filter does not require you to enter any parameters, it is immediately applied.
If the filter does require you to enter parameters, the Select Filter window opens. For more information, see Supplying Parameter Values at Run Time.
Records that match the filter criteria are shown in the table. If no matches are found, the No Matches window opens by default. For more information, see Responding to the No Matches Window.
As you apply filters, up to four of the most recently applied filters are shown above a separator bar. Beneath this separator bar, all filters for the active table are listed alphabetically after -- No Filter --, which provides for removing the currently applied filter.
Different icons are used to indicate where the filters in enabled Filter files are stored. These logos are described in the table below.

The System file logo indicates that the filter is stored in the Master Filter file, which is read-only.
The file folder icon indicates that the filter is stored in the Project Filter file.
The person icon indicates that the filter is stored in your My Filter file.
