Using the Parametric Binomial Distribution to Compute Test Time or Units
You can use the Test Planning Calculator and the parametric binomial distribution to compute test time or test units.
1. If the Test Planning Calculator is not already open, select LDA > Test Planning to open it.
2. In the navigation pane, click Parametric Binomial.
3. For Solve for, select the value for which to solve. Choices are Test time and Test units.
Based on your selection, other parameters are made available under Parameters.
4. Under Parameters, for Demonstration type, select the known parameter. Choices are Reliability, MTBF, Characteristic Life, and LX. The selection you make becomes the next parameter in which you enter a value.
5. Enter all required values for the chosen demonstration type and then complete the additional options under Distribution and Plot and table options. For descriptions, see Parametric Binomial Distribution Options.
6. When finished, click Calculate. The result for the value chosen for Solve for is shown in a display-only field under Result.
7. In the navigation pane, do the following to view the plot and results generated:
a. If necessary, click Parametric Binomial to expand this heading.
b. Click Result Plot to view a plot of the calculated results (Testing Time vs. Number of Units or Number of Units vs. Testing Time) for a selected number of failures. For more information, see Result Plot.
c. Click Result Table to view the calculated test time or test unit results. For more information, see Result Plot.
8. When finished, click Close.
