Generate Random Data Points Window for a Weibull Life Data Set
The Generate Random Data Points window provides for entering parameters for generating random data points using the built-in Monte Carlo simulation engine. Selecting LDA > Generate Random Data Points opens this window. The parameters shown depend on the type of Weibull life data set that is selected in the LDA Navigator and its parameter values.
The following figure shows the Generate Random Data Points window for a Weibull life data set with a non-Duane data type. Based on the parameter values shown in this figure, 10 random data points are generated with the specified parameter values.
The following table describes all of the parameters that can appear in the Generate Random Data Points window for a Weibull life data set.
Parameter
Description
Quantity
The number of random points to generate for the data set. The default is 10. For a reliability growth data set with a data type of Duane Cumulative, this parameter is unavailable when Time is selected as the termination type.
(Slope) and (Scale) and possibly (Location)
The slope and scale parameters for the distribution and model selected in the Weibull Parameters pane. For example, if the distribution/model combination is Weibull/Three Parameters, then β, η, and γ values are entered for the slope, scale, and threshold parameters. For model/distribution combinations, see Models Per Distribution.
Percent Suspension
The percentage of suspensions. This parameter is available only if the distribution supports suspensions and Suspensions is selected in the Weibull Parameters pane. The default is 0.
*
If a reliability growth data set is selected in the LDA Navigator, depending on its data type, one of the parameters below is available.
Interval Length
The length of the interval. This parameter is available only when Duane Interval or Crow/AMSAA Interval is selected as the data type in the Weibull Parameters pane. The default is 10.
Termination Type
Indicates whether the end of operation is due to a failure or reaching some specified amount of operating time. This parameter is available when Duane Cumulative or Crow/AMSAA Cumulative is chosen as the data type in the Weibull Parameters pane. Choices are:
Failure. When selected (default), no other information is needed.
Time. When selected, a termination time greater than or equal to the time of the last data point must be entered in the field to the right.
